Our NEW 2011 Chrysanthemum Global Warming Mums:

Click here to view our 5 new selections

"Global Warming Mums" bloom later in the season, after other fall mums have passed and are hardy enough to take a few frosts and continue blooming.  They're very useful in feeding bees, other pollinators and beneficial insects, which are still looking for something to eat due to the warmer extended fall seasons we are now experiencing.  These five selections are descendents of Chrysanthemum koreanum 'Sheffield' by C. 'Indicum', a very hardy historic species grown in America as early as 1798.  All selections are quite hardy and they make great cut flowers too!

We are pleased to offer quality native and exotic perennials to the trade.  Perhaps you already have grown some of our introductions, such as: Phlox p. Shortwood, Tiarella c. x Oakleaf, or Tiarella c. x Brandywine. If you have, then you are already acquainted with the benefits of these plants.  If not, we suggest you try them and you will not be disappointed!  Historically, Dunvegan has aided in the development, testing and release of introductions and selections from other sources as well as our own work.  Through these efforts, over 50 fine herbaceous plants have come to our industry.

close up picture showing the floral structure of the Tiarella x Octararo flowerIn 2008, we proudly introduced The River Series of Tiarella, plants in the tradition of T. Brandywine and T. Laird of Skye. These selections are hardy, vigorous, and bloom more profusely than is typical. They have interesting and different foliar characteristics, and they also run, like rivers. They will be available through PlantsNouveau. Phlox p. Blushing Shortwood will also be out this year (a child of Phlox Shortwood), and is available through Yoder/Greenleaf  (& Blooms of Bressingham NA). These new introductions are trialed and tested, and worthy additions to the wonderful world of herbaceous perennial plants, gardens, landscapes, and natural areas.

Look for more excellent garden and landscape worthy plant introductions in the future, as many seedlings of Phlox and Tiarella are being evaluated. A few new genera planned for future development. We are developing these plants to help you succeed!

If you are a non-industry visitor, thanks for checking us out and we sincerely appreciate your interest! While we only sell to the industry, ultimately we are doing this effort for your planting and gardening enjoyment (and success). So, if you like our plants, go ask your local retailer to stock what you want to plant.  If you don't find what you're looking for or just want to provide us some feedback, Submit Message Now! It's your garden after all.
